Media Mondays

I feel like the weeks are whipping by in 2013, so I was grateful for a day and a half off this weekend.  This week starts an even bigger whirlwind as we trudge towards the last 20 days of awards season 2013...Nominees Luncheon, a commercial shoot, movie premiere, a trip out of town, and a desperate Oscars dress search.

Here are my media appearances from last week:

Dara on Radio:  I made a return appearance and chatted about the SAG Awards and what it means to the Oscars.  Right now, all eyes are on the Best Picture category.  Listen here.  (You can find the rest of my SAG Awards coverage here.)

Tom Barnard Podcast: All I have to say is "Dat Ass."  It's hilarious.  Start listening at the 13:00    mark. I promise you, it's worth it.

If you know about my Club 33 obsession, then you know I need to get into California Adventure's 1901 too.
The Radio Dish: At the 20:30 mark, you can listen to the latest snark about Kim Kardashian and her butt.

SheKnows: Some of my articles from last week.
Cody Simpson: "I feel blessed"--If you have a teen in your house, then you know they will like my interview with him.
Lindsay Lohan too sick to appear in court--Another day, another Lohan drama.

My football strawberries!

Cocktails and Conversation:  It's the first Saturday of the month and we dished all about the BeyoncéBowl.  That's right, the Super Bowl is just a myth, it was a Beyoncé concert. I come in at the 23:00 mark.

If you missed my awards show updates from last week, check them out here, here, and here.  I also gave out some DWTS dish, so click here.

I'll be on Metro News Hotline with Dave Weekley today at 1:30pm PT/4:30pm ET.  Or join me at 6:35pm PT/9:35pm ET on Driving with Gass at KWSS.org for your Super Bowl and Oscar Nominees Luncheon update.

Behind The Red Carpet: Absurd Photo Edition

Beginning today, I will be doing a weekly series called, Behind the Red Carpet.  I am going to break down the myths of Hollywood because this town is nothing but smoke and mirrors.  I've done a few pieces like this before (See Kardashian House, Oscars Red Carpet, and What is a Press Junket?), but I think it is time to make this a regular feature on Red Carpet Closet.  So, if you have questions about how things operate in Hollywood, why certain celebrities are photographed more than others, or why this town is so darn crazy, contact me in the comments below, on Facebook, Twitter, or via email.  I look forward to hearing what you want to know about Hollywood.

Now, let's get cracking with three absurd Hollywood photos of the week:

1.  Leann Rimes Cibrian:  Um, who gives their husband a birthday cake with his favorite things including sexy bedtime and his two little boys (Watching? Listening in? Thinking about the therapy they are going to need?) on the front of the cake and then TWEETS it out to over 298,000 followers?  Awkward.  When I see things like this, I think Team Brandi.

2.  Ashley Olsen:  So our gal Ashley is dating an older man, Olivier Sarkozy, who happens to be the half brother of former French President Nicolas Sarkozy.  He's 43, she's 26.  Oh yeah, one of the girls in the photo is Olivier's daughter and the other one is his date.  It's hard to tell the two apart, no?

3.  Kim Kardashian:  Sigh.  I hate to give this gal more press, but I am going to call her out on this dress.  Kim was complaining on Twitter that the press was saying she was wearing Spanx under her Stella McCartney dress.  She set the record straight and said the dress came with nude panels.  I am setting the record straight to let her know that Spanx or nude panels, the dress is still ugly.

Okay, it's your turn.  What do you think of this week's Behind the Red Carpet? What do you want to see next week?

Heaven's Makeup Bar

Last night, I was invited to the VIP opening of Heaven's Makeup Bar in Burbank after I was introduced to their services at this event late last month.  For those of you that live in Los Angeles, add this beauty bar to the list of cool places popping up lately in the 818.  Caron Lunde and Garbriela Cardenas partnered together to create a location where you can get red carpet ready for your big event or night out on the town.  They have a look book where you can choose from a series of looks like Kim Kardashian's Smoky Eye to the Girl Next Door look or even the JLo Glow.  Last time, I had them create the Girl Next Door look, so I asked Gaby to add a little JLo Glow to my pale self.  It was the perfect pick-me-up before a night out all for $35 and a complimentary cocktail.  Take a look at the photos from the fun night and be sure to visit the Heaven's Makeup Bar website for more information.  They are already open for business as a part of a soft opening, but their official opening day is June 9th.

 The dreaded Before photo.......

 During the makeover......

Finally, the After photo with my JLo Glow........

Delicious desserts provided by What's In The Box.

Me and Gaby after my makeover (and finally some color to my face!)

My pal, Heather, getting her JLo Glow on too with makeup applied by Caron.

What was in the Goody Bag?  Bed Head Glaze Haze and Sugar Shock, Youngblood Mineral Primer and Radiance Moisture Tint, a Brownie Trifle!, and a bracelet from Charlie & Marcelle

**All services were complimentary during my visit to Heaven's Makeup Bar.  All opinions are my own. **

Have You Heard Anything About The Kardashians This Week?

Okay, before you groan at me, I hope you check out my article over at Starpulse about this week's incessant news on the 72-day marriage.  The article is entitled:  "Breaking Up With The Kardashians:  Where Do We Draw The Line?"  I talked with reality experts who weighed in with their opinions:  everyone from a casting director to a YouTube personality to a former Bachelor star to the biggest Bachelor spoiler blogger in the industry.

I have met Kim, in fact, she styled me for the Oscars in 2007 because I bought my dress from Dash. She was alone in the store that day.  Yep, that's how simple her life was in January 2007. Things changed by the fall of that year and it is amazing to see the transformation in four short years.  She's a sweet girl who I think has been misguided by the fame and the money.  I hope this gives her an opportunity to take a step back, breathe, and reassess the world around her.
