AfterBuzz TV, Dancing with the Stars: Week 2 with Anna Trebunskaya

My notes, gossip, and Twitter page ready for last night's show.

I want to thank everyone for joining us last night on AfterBuzz TV for Dancing with the Stars. I had a blast tweeting live with many of you at our official hashtag:  #ABTVDance.  It was interesting to see the show from a different perspective since I joined via phone from New York.

One thing I want to address is our current time slot. Many of you on the East Coast have asked about the time of our show.  This season, we are locked into a 9pm PT time slot.  This will remain a fixed time for Season 16.  I know this is late for most you on the East Coast (I know firsthand, since I was up until after 1am ET chatting with you!) We will definitely take this into consideration for next season, but I want to let you know why we are on so late:

1.  AfterBuzz TV is a full working studio with many shows scheduled before and after us.  Since Season 16 of DWTS falls mid-season, we have to take the available studio slots.

2.  The times that were available were not always convenient for our DWTS guests, so we took the best slot that would make our show more attractive for the pros and celebs to come on our show. If we schedule it too early, we cut into rehearsal time. If we schedule it on a broadcast day, we won't get anyone.

3. AfterBuzz TV actually moved around the schedule to accommodate our 9pm PT slot. Originally, it was going to be at 10pm PT...which is even worse for you East Coasters.  So, the crew and I are very grateful that they made this happen.

So, don't worry, we hear you!  We will take your comments and suggestions and use them for Season 17. In the meantime, please enjoy last night's broadcast below or download the podcast in iTunes here.

AfterBuzz TV: DWTS Week 2 Show Updates

I know I have been chatting with a lot of you on Twitter, so some of you know I am working in New York this week.  I will still be participating in the show though. (And what a week it was! Wow! I wouldn't miss it.)

As of right now, this is how the show will run:

Suri will be leading the show and joining her in studio: Jake DuPree, whom some of you may know from AfterBuzz TV's Vanderpump Rules show. Also in studio, Anna Trebunskaya, last seen in Season 15 of DWTS: All-Stars with Drew Lachey.

I will be joining the show live on the phone from New York.

As for Peta (See, I got her name right!) Murgatroyd and Sean Lowe, they are still up in the air. Their schedule keeps changing, so it's been a "yes" and now it's a "maybe."  The rehearsal schedule is brutal and everyone wants to compete and win.  We have to be patient, but we will get as many guests for you as possible this season.

If this news changes, I will try and update it here and on Twitter.

Thanks for all of your comments and support. I have tried to answer as many of your comments as possible this week. Let me know if I have missed you somehow.

See you tonight on AfterBuzz TV!

Watch the show here live at 9pm PT/Midnight ET.

If you missed any of my DWTS coverage from last week, you can find it here

AfterBuzz TV's Dancing with the Stars: Sharna Burgess

We are finally back for Season 16 on AfterBuzz TV and Suri Surano and I started off with a bang!  We had guests Sharna Burgess, who is paired with Andy Dick this season, and professional dancer/choreographer and coach on Stars in Danger, Karl Warden, in studio with us.

Let me know what you think of episode 1. We always love your comments. And yes, I accidentally called Peta by the wrong name. I know her name isn't Petra.  Anything can happen with a live broadcast so mistakes do happen. Yep, I made a mistake! I'm human.

Check out my EXCLUSIVE interview with Sharna Burgess for SheKnows:
DWTS' new pro Sharna Burgess:  Andy Dick is "in a great place"

Next week's Guests:  The Bachelor's Sean Lowe and Peta Murgatroyd. Same time, same place: 9pm PT on AfterBuzz TV.

If you want to listen to the broadcast in iTunes, you can download it here.

Media Mondays...on a Tuesday

Green river in Chicago!

I hope you all had a fun St. Patrick's Day weekend. My holiday was spent in Chicago where they take the holiday very seriously. The crowds were lined up at the bars as early as 8 a.m. in order to drink their green beer. The weather was freezing though, so I hope it was worth it. I can't imagine needing a drink that badly, but then again, I can't drink green beer anyway.

Here are some of my media appearances from last week...pick and choose your adventures!

I spent a lot of time writing last week, so it was nice to go for a run outside and see this.

If you missed my Ryan Seacrest/Julianne Hough article about their split and the PR machine about the breaking story, click here. To see the new promo for AfterBuzz TV's Dancing with the Stars, click here.

Tom Barnard Podcast:  The one where I accidentally ask if former Minnesota Vikings player Mike Morris had a Super Bowl ring. Oops, I didn't know Vikings didn't win the Super Bowl. Listen here.

The Radio Dish:  Does Matthew McConaughey have hair plugs? I give you the truth on his hair regrowth. Listen in at the 17:45 mark.

On the Fox lot to catch a sneak peek at Epic.

SheKnows:  My favorite articles from last week:
Epic: Animated films reflect a new generation for girls--My sneak peek look at the animated film, Epic.

Don't forget that I will be back on AfterBuzz TV with our first episode of Dancing with the Stars for Season 16. Our first guests will be Sharna Burgess and Andy Dick!  Watch us here live at 9pm PT.

Safe Haven: Interviews with Julianne Hough and Josh Duhamel

If you are headed to see Safe Haven this week, make sure you watch my videos before you go.  This is the second time I've interviewed Julianne Hough and I have to say, she's darn cool.  Julianne is fun and refreshing to interview and I do think it is her best onscreen role to date.

As for Josh Duhamel, well...darn, he's even better looking in person!  He gave some really thoughtful answers to my questions. I also wore my new Fergie boots to see if Josh would notice I was wearing a pair from his wife's shoe line.  Alas, he was too busy being thoughtful about my questions.
I also attended the Safe Haven premiere a week later and I ran into former Dancing with the Stars pro, Derek Hough, who was there to support his sister.  We will miss him for Season 16, but he's off to bigger things in Hollywood. Let me know what you think of the interviews, I would love to hear from you!

DWTS Season 16: Who's In? Who's Out?

Okay, we are getting closer and closer to that March 18 premiere date for Season 16 of Dancing with the Stars. The rumors are out there, let's see who is definitely out and who might be in. Remember, we don't have any confirmations yet.

NO:
Lindsay Lohan:  While this gal could use the money and she surely could use the career boost, Lindsay won't be stepping on any dance floor any time soon.  If you have been following her recent court case, Lindsay will begin her next trial on March 18th.  Oh, guess what show premieres that day?

Lance Armstrong:  I believe this is a name ABC pursued pretty heavily.  His story is legendary in a not-so-good way, but DWTS might be a good place to start his comeback.  However, I think Armstrong has said his peace to Oprah and he is now going to step away from the media for a time.  Remember, he has a lot of personal relationships to heal before he ever steps back into the public arena.

MAYBE:
Emily Maynard:  ABC is very loyal to their reality stars and they have utilized Maynard for two rounds of the The Bachelor franchise.  Don't doubt for a minute that they are at least thinking about using her for DWTS.  She is a polarizing figure, but people would tune into watch her.

Katherine Webb:  She's the hottest pop culture figure these days thanks to Brent Musburger and the BCS championship game.  We will see her reporting for Inside Edition at Super Bowl LXVII and in the swimsuit issue for Sports Illustrated plus she's starring in ABC's new celebrity diving show called Splash.  Webb has made no secret about the fact that she wants to hit DWTS next....stay tuned.

The Fierce Five:  A few of the team members talked about wanting to star on the show after their appearance on the Season 15 finale.  We chatted with Jordyn Wieber on Afterbuzz TV's DWTS after show and she mentioned how much she would love to do the show. Aly Raisman, Gabby Douglas, and McKayla Maroney also expressed interest in the show.  If I was going to pick one from the gold medal-winning team, my money is on Maroney for a few reasons.  One, she's focusing on an acting career.  Two, she's local to the Southern California area.

Things we know for sure:

1.  The show will be back for two seasons per year.

That's it!  We need to know more.  If you have any insider scoop, send your tips here.

Who do you think will be on the show?  Any other rumors?  Where are all of the men--no rumors yet?
Chime in the comments below.

If you missed my fan chat with Henry Byalikov, you can check it out below.  I will have Henry back on along with Teagan Lowe on Tuesday, February 26 at 5pm PT/8pm ET, so mark your calendars!

DWTS Season 16: The Rumors So Far...

See my January 30, 2013 updated article here.

The rumors have officially begun for Season 16 of Dancing With the Stars after the NY Post wrote an article that dished about some of the possibilities for the next season.  (If you haven't seen the article, click here.)  It talks about ABC cutting the show back to only one season per year and shaking up the judging panel.

On our last DWTS show on AfterBuzz TV and on the Spreecast fan chat, we talked a lot about changing the judges around.  It seems like Len's name came up the most to be removed from the panel and nobody wanted Paula Abdul to replace him.  It seems like the pros really want Abdul to step in, but I think it's been done....American Idol, The X Factor, and her own dance show, Live to Dance.     There are plenty of other dancers and choreographers out there that would make it interesting and bring new life and energy to the show.

As for going down to one season, it's inevitable that it would happen.  Ratings are down for dance shows, including So You Think You Can Dance, which just means that the peak of the dance craze has already happened and some viewers are fatigued by the format. I think also having other talent shows on the air all year long, from X Factor to The Voice to America's Got Talent, makes us all tired of these types of shows, no matter how entertaining they are. There is just so many of them.

The other interesting tidbit that was thrown out was the name Emily Maynard as a possible contestant.  The former Bachelorette has enjoyed her time in the spotlight and the tabloids have been covering her possible move to LA, so I think we will see her on the next season.  Other names that have been bandied about include:  Christie Brinkley, Danica McKellar (The Wonder Years), Dominique Moceanu, Gabby Douglas, Jordyn Wieber, Aly Raisman, and several cast members from General Hospital.

So, here are two questions for you, my friends:

1. Who do you want to see on Season 16 of DWTS?

2.  Do you want to see them change the judges' panel?  Who would you replace?

Let me know in the comments below, on Twitter, or on Facebook.

I will also be doing a Spreecast with one of the names I mentioned in this article in the next few weeks, so follow me on Twitter or Facebook for the big announcement.

Finally, here's wishing good health on the road to recovery for Brooke Burke-Charvet who underwent thyroid surgery earlier this week.

Many thanks to Kristin Hope for sending me the NY Post article yesterday.

Media Mondays

It's hard to believe we are in the final month of the year, but I am looking forward to a Christmas nap.  Life has been so busy here in LA!  We had lots of controversy surrounding the DWTS finale, but, on the flip side, my co-host and I had the opportunity to interview Fierce Five Olympic Gold Medalist, Jordyn Wieber.  You have to take the good with the not-so-good. Here's where I was last week:

Tom Barnard Podcast:  Every Tuesday, I dish the dirt with Tom and the crew.  It's one of my favorite stops each week.  Check out last week's show, I come in right at the top.

Interviewing Hyundai Vice President of Marketing, Steve Shannon.  Photo by Kathryn Rapier

Hyundai Santa Fe Press Reveal at the LA Auto Show: While I may have retired from this, I still cover press events in the automotive world.  If you want to see the crazy and wild moment when I interviewed Hyundai President and CEO John Krafcik, click here.  The crowds wanted to speak with him, but I had the opportunity to interview him first.

AfterBuzz TV's Dancing With the Stars Finale:  Oh boy, this final week was fraught with such controversy over the judging, the voting, and the eventual winners.  My co-host, Suri, talked openly about how she felt and we have both talked about our frustrations.  See how it all went down and listen to our fun interview with Fierce Five member, Jordyn Wieber....such a sweet girl!  I'm going to miss this show, but I will be back in full force when Season 16 returns in March.

Talking Toyota on Inside the LA Auto Show

Inside the LA Auto Show:  The show aired on CBS 2 and KCAL 9 here in Los Angeles and not only did I talk about the 2013 line-up for Toyota, my nerdy dancing made the credits.  Yep, total dork here.

SheKnows:  A couple of my favorite articles from last week:
Michael Jackson's Thriller turns 30--No one was bigger during the '80s.
Scarlett Johansson does the weather on The Today Show--I love it when a star doesn't take themselves seriously.
Anna Nicole Smith's daughter in GUESS Kids Spring campaign--How cute is she?  I hope this story ends differently than Anna's though.

Cocktails and Conversation:  It was my last appearance of the year with these sassy ladies. Listen in as we talk a lot about Angus T. Jones and his religious controversy with Two and a Half Men.

Spreecast:  The DWTS finale was so controversial, that Suri and I hit the internet one more time to talk to the fans.  Thank you all for joining in with your thoughts and comments.  If you missed it, you can watch the archive below.

Don't forget it's #RadioBurtt night at 6:35pm PT/9:35pm PT tonight on Driving with Gass.  Join in the conversation at KWSS.org live!

And yep, that's me in a Kia of Cerritos commercial.

Hot Topic Tuesday: The Internet Hates You and Loves You

I have developed a pretty thick skin working on the internet.  I love that I get immediate feedback on my reporting from people who watch what I do for the first time or for the 249530494385394857th time.  I like to pride myself on responding to most of my comments and posts, but I usually refrain from talking back to the really mean ones if I think it is unwarranted.  I love constructive criticism, but I am also human so if you tell me I should shut up forever because my yakking hurts your ears, I think..."lower the volume or turn me off.  Welcome to America, kids, we have choices here."  Yet, those haters love to come back week after week.  They get great enjoyment out of making comments on YouTube and it makes me laugh.  We are all armchair critics now that the internet has given us a bigger voice, but an anonymous one at the same time.  You can hide behind your keyboard and criticize away.  The criticism often has more to do with you versus me, but that's okay...I'm human and I have lots of foibles....and bad hair days too!

So, enjoy my latest AfterBuzz TV recap show of Dancing With the Stars with our guests, troupe members Sasha Farber and Emma Slater.  We had such a blast and I had loved reading all of the comments.....both good......and snarky. (Click on the video to be directed to YouTube and all of the comments.)

I would love to hear your opinion on this.  Chime in below....and yep, you can respond anonymously.

KB All Over the Internets

I'm tired.  I am going to spend a lot of my day on the couch hanging out.  So, here are a few places I was hanging out last week:

Dara on Radio:  Dara asks some of the best questions in the entertainment biz and we had a fun 30-minute chat about the Emmys and other upcoming award shows.  Listen here.

AfterBuzz TV:  Dancing with the Stars:  All Stars.  We are having so much fun with our DWTS guests and last week was no exception as Sharna Burgess, Emma Slater, and Jaymz Tuaileva stopped by.  They are all dancers in the DWTS troupe and we heard a lot of inside scoop.  (See the group photo here.)

Tara Weingarten, Micah Muzio, me, Brett Chukerman, Marlo Smith.

HSN:  You might have heard about my Toyota and HSN adventures over the weekend and I had a blast on air with the entire crew.  In fact, we made electronic retailing history and USA Today covered our show in Monday's online and print edition.

Cocktails and Conversation:  My favorite Saturday gals and I talked about the latest entertainment news with a little dish on Rihanna and Chris Brown and the ongoing AI feud between Mariah and Nicki Minaj.  I think that battle is playing out for the TV cameras, do you?  Listen here.

SheKnows.com:  I've been having fun writing daily entertainment articles for the site, so here are three of my favorite pieces from last week:
       -Community postponed yet again.
       -5 Tear-jerking breast cancer films.
-Nick and Vanessa Lachey debut their baby on Twitter.

The Radio Dish:  Hello, Kansas City!  My weekly entertainment segment dishing on the latest in Hollywood news can be heard at the 21:00 mark. Listen here.

Phew!  That's it.  That's all I did last week.  What was your favorite segment?  Let me know in the comments below!

My view in Chicago......

I am enjoying a nice fall weekend in Chicago away from the heat of LA and the onslaught of Carmageddon, Part 2, Electric Boogaloo (for all of you '80s kids out there.)  It's been a busy week, so take a look at what I've been up to.  Pick your path and enjoy the ride!

I summed up my time at the Emmys backstage gifting suite for the presenters here for Starpulse.

We are kicking some nice butt with our Afterbuzz TV recap show for The New Normal.  It continues to be in the Top 5 on our iTunes podcast list.   Watch last week's episode here.

I'm super excited about this opportunity!  I will be co-hosting the after show for Dancing With The Stars: All-Stars this season on AfterBuzz TV.  We are going to have amazing guests from the show all season long.  Check out our first episode with my co-host Suri Serano and our guest, Karl Warden.

Some of my favorite articles this week from SheKnows:
Experience the Oscars red carpet firsthand
Arnold Schwarzenegger opens up about his affair (See my photos with the Governor from 2010 and get your mind out of the gutter.....they are work-related!)
Brooke Shields caught smoking pot?

Finally, one of my favorite gigs lately is with The Radio Dish in Kansas City.  Here is my entertainment segment, The Hollywood Bling, at the 21:00 mark.

Okay, that's it for this week!  Let me know what you liked the most so I know where to focus all of my crazy energy.

What's In My HBO Emmys Gift Bag?

You might have seen some of my photos from Emmys weekend which included an invite to the HBO after party.  I have written about the gifting strategy with celebrities quite a bit. (In fact, here's my recent article about the Presenters Lounge backstage at the Emmys for Starpulse.)  However, I haven't written much about the gift bags celebrities receive on the way out of big events and parties.  So, I thought it might be fun to take a peek at the gift bag I received from HBO.  If I were a guy, I might be disappointed, but for me, it was a happy day when I saw what was inside:

An HBO cookie prepared by Wolfgang Puck.  I'm Gluten Free, so I didn't take a bite, however, my friend who was the lucky recipient of this cookie said it was "delicious".

A reusable HBO bag, Dry Bar shower cap, a gift certificate for a free scalp massage at Dry Bar, Peter Thomas Roth Instant Firm Eye (temporary eye tightener), Deborah Lippman nail polish in Purple Rain.

If you live in a city with a Dry Bar, you know this was the greatest gift created by the hair gods.  For $35, you get a wash and blow out that's perfect for events, weddings, or that hot date when you just want your hair to look good.  Copycat blowout bars are popping up everywhere, so look for one in your city.  Trust me, it's so worth it.  (At the HBO party, Dry Bar was offering hair touch ups after a long Emmys night. Awesome!)

This might have been my favorite part of the gift bag, Stila Cosmetics.  Like Dry Bar, they are offering free touch ups at the party, so I was excited to see a few free gifts in my bag:  the Foliage Lip Glaze Trio in Delicate, Loganberry, and Fawn, Forever Your Curl Mascara, and the Smudge Crayon eye shadow and liner in Pink Violet plus a 20% off coupon and a makeup bag.  Score!

If you haven't tried Stila Cosmetics before, it truly is a great brand with quality pigments and brushes.  It is pricier than a drugstore brand, but it is a good one to use when you are saving up for a splurge.  In fact, I used to represent the brand on QVC.  See my appearance on my host reel at the 2:41 mark.

What do you think of my beauty haul?  Do you have any favorite products in the lot? Let me know in the comments below.

Dancing with the Stars fans, I will be co-hosting the after show tonight on AfterBuzz TV beginning at 7pm PST/10pm EST.  I hope you watch along with us live as we will have members of the cast each and every week!  It's going to be fun.

Falling Into Fall

Last night on AfterBuzz TV......

I am slowly making my way back into work mode after a trip to Europe and a quick jaunt to Chicago.  I have a lot of irons in the fire this fall and things will be changing a bit around here, but it's all moving in the right direction after ending my road warrior status last spring.

Some of the things in the mix that I can talk about right now include:
AfterBuzz TV:  SYTYCD (ends September 18th with choreographer, Spencer Liff)
DWTS (starts the week of September 24th)
The New Normal (Tuesdays at 10PM PT--See our host photo here.)

Cocktails and Conversation:  Talking VMAs, SYTYCD, and Hollywood divorce.

I will also be going back to my roots with an appearance on one of the electronic retailing networks in October. Can you guess which one?

Finally, I will be doing an Emmys week countdown with Stuart Brazell on Spreecast, so there will be a lot to keep up with this fall.  Be sure to check my News/Appearances page for the latest updates.

Enjoying the Chicago skyline from the Trump Tower.

SYTYCD On AfterBuzz TV With Kent Boyd

AJ Gibson, Corrinne Williams, Kent Boyd, and me after the show.

The big joke last night was, "I'm back, Bitchezzzzz"!  Yes, it was nice to be back on AfterBuzz TV with my co-hosts, AJ Gibson and Corrinne Williams for our So You Think You Can Dance (SYTYCD) wrap-up show after a 3-week absence.  Season 7 runner-up, Kent Boyd, joined us in studio and he could not be more adorable.  He gave us really honest insight as to what goes on behind the scenes and some of his thoughts on the format changes with Season 9.  To add even more fun to the mix, Alex Wong, also from Season 7, called in to give Kent a hard time.  We were tweeting up a storm last night with fans and sending kudos to the unbelievably talented Comfort Fedoke, who danced with Top 4 finalist, Cyrus, last night.  I hope you enjoy the episode because we had a ball.

We have only 2 more episodes of SYTYCD, but I will be co-hosting the after shows of Dancing With The Stars and The New Normal this fall.  Stay tuned for more information!

My lovely co-hosts gearing up for the show.

Dance Fans, This Is For You: First Position

Last Sunday, I had the opportunity to see the LA premiere of a new ballet documentary called First Position hosted by Dance Camera West.  The film follows the trials and tribulations of seven young dancers at different stages of their careers as they compete in the prestigious Youth America Grand Prix.  The documentary was developed by first time filmmaker, Bess Kargman, who followed the dancers for an entire year and filmed their compelling stories.  I was so moved by Michaela DePrince's journey that I tweeted her before her Dancing With The Stars (DWTS) performance last night.  This girl is a star!

Watch her DWTS clip and the trailer, then check out the film in limited release beginning May 4th.  I've picked a few other winners for you in the past like here and here, so don't disappoint me.....check out this film!

Who Knew Sherri Shepherd Was Going To Be On DWTS?

Dancing With The Stars premieres tonight and I just want to remind Sherri Shepherd (The View) what she told me on the red carpet at the Oscars just two days before the cast for this season was announced live on Good Morning, America.  Let's review the tape:

Okay, I just wanted to prove my source was correct on that scoop.  Enjoy your season, Sherri, and good luck!

Also joining the cast this season is Jaleel White.  For those of you who haven't checked in on Jaleel since his Urkel days on Family Matters, see what his has been up to from my interview with him on The Web Files in 2010:

Will you be watching this season of DWTS or has this show jumped the shark?

Women's Health Magazine Are You Game Photos: NY 2011

I told you I was going to be working backwards this week on this blog.  So, last Sunday was my Emmys event in LA, but on Saturday, I was in NYC for the final Women's Health Magazine Are You Game? event of 2011.  It is always one of my favorite events that I host all year with a day filled with fitness, fashion, food, and freebies.  Everyone always has such a fun day and this year in NY, I had the opportunity to hit the stage with DJ Chela who spun some amazing tunes at the South Street Seaport.  The area was packed with fitness enthusiasts and tourists who stumbled upon the event and got a bonus....a glimpse at Louis Van Amstel of DWTS teaching his LaBlast dance class.  If you are in NY or Chicago, be sure to look for the event next summer and show off your strong, sexy body.

Sony Store Opening: Century City

Some weeks, my world is more glamorous than others.  Other weeks, I am home on my couch in my sweats.  I really enjoy both scenarios, so while this week has been busy with press junkets, store openings, Kids' Choice Awards events, and screenings, I will be spending my Friday night on the couch.  Last night, I was at the Sony store opening in Century City to preview the company's latest offerings in HD technology.  Stars like Adrian Grenier, Melissa Joan Hart, Craig Robinson, Ali and Roberto (for you Bachelorette fans), Spencer Grammer, and Lisa Rinna showed up to support the event and of course, go home with a swag bag.  Sony label artist and Dancing With The Stars performer, Mark Ballas, sang from his CD while the guest played the latest Playstation games and noshed on shrimp cocktail.  It was a lot of fun and I even ran into a few people from the tech and social media world.

In true Hollywood form, it wasn't my only stop of the night as I ran off to the LA Film School to interview James Wan and Leigh Whannell, the creators of the new horror flick, Insidious.  So, expect that article tomorrow on Starpulse. Let's just say, I haven't walked into a dark room in my house alone since I saw the movie last week..........

Mark Ballas is tiny....like really tiny.

Proof that LA will put a red carpet anywhere, including the middle of a mall.

The Q&A after the screening of Insidious at LA Film School

Two notes:
1. This is my second post this week with Lisa Rinna and Melissa Joan Hart in it.  What are the chances?
2. I decided to run upstairs to The Container Store at the end of the Sony party because I needed storage folders for my home office.  Hey, there are only two Container stores in LA and a girl needs to multitask!
