2008 NHFF Awards Local Films and Filmmakers on NH Night!

[From the New Hampshire Film Festival...]

On Thursday, October 16, the 8th Annual New Hampshire Film Festival screened films with ties to the Granite State. At a special NH Awards Ceremony at The Music Hall, the 2008 NHFF Best New Hampshire Film and 2008 NHFF Best New Hampshire Documentary Film were proudly presented:

The Best New Hampshire Film was chosen by the 2008 NH Jury. The Best New Hampshire Documentary Film, a new award this year, was chosen by the 2008 Screening Committee.

NHFF and NH Governor John Lynch Honor Van McLeod, Create Award

With an official Proclamation from Governor John Lynch, NHFF Directors announced the creation of the Van McLeod Achievement Award at yesterday's NH Night Awards Ceremony.

Van McLeod, Commissioner of the Division of Cultural Resources, is a driving force and inspiration to the film community in the State of New Hampshire. He was instrumental in launching the New Hampshire Film & Television Office as it exists today and is a tireless supporter of filmmakers and their cause. Van, who was indeed very surprised by this surprise announcement, was awarded with an Honorary Granny Award and was on hand to witness presentation of the first award in his name.

The Van McLeod Achievement Award is to be awarded each year to a successful filmmaker, whether director, writer, producer or other affiliation, who has ties to the State of New Hampshire and who exemplifies the spirit that Van brings to the local film industry each and every day.

2008 NHFF Van McLeod Achievement Award was presented to Chase Bailey

Chase Bailey, a producer who calls New Hampshire and Paris, France home, was on hand to accept the inaugural award. Chase worked as a financial advisor to John Malcovich's production company Mr. Mudd, and Paris Mudd, the Europe-based partner to Mr. Mudd where he produced "The Libertine" starring John Malcovich and Johnny Depp, and "Art School Confidential." Chase then opened his own production company, Left Bank Films, and recently produced "The Life Before Her Eyes" starring Uma Thurman and directed by Vadim Perelman.
