Deborah Scranton's EARTH MADE OF GLASS to screen on May 24 in Concord, with post-film Q&A

New Hampshire filmmaker Deborah Scranton (THE WAR TAPES) will be screening her latest, Peabody Award-winning documentary EARTH MADE OF GLASS at Red River Theatres in Concord on Thursday, May 24 at 7 p.m. There will be a "meet-and-greet" reception at 6 p.m. and a Q&A session with Scranton will follow the screening of the film.

EARTH MADE OF GLASS: On Nov 11, 2008, Rwandan President Paul Kagames closest aide, Rose Kabuye, is arrested by France on charges of terrorism. Meanwhile, Jean Pierre, a Rwandan genocide survivor, scours the countryside in search of clues to his fathers murder fifteen years ago. With the fate of both a country and a family hanging in the balance, Jean Pierre and the President fight to uncover and expose the truth, each ultimately coming face-to-face with the same choice: to take revenge or turn the other cheek.

Deborah Scranton made her feature film directorial debut with the vivid, first-person account of the war in Iraq -- THE WAR TAPES. Hailed by the New York Times as "raw, honest and moving … one of the formally most radical films" and described as "the first indispensable Iraq documentary", THE WAR TAPES was released to international acclaim worldwide and went on to be shortlisted for an Academy Award in 2007. Her second feature film EARTH MADE OF GLASS, premiered at the 2010 Tribeca Film Festival in Documentary Competition and was broadcast on HBO in April 2011. EARTH MADE OF GLASS was one of six films nominated for Best Documentary Feature of the Year by the Producer's Guild of America in 2011 and recently won a prestigious Peabody Award in 2012. A former member of the US National Ski Team and New Hampshire native, she started her career in television as a special assignment reporter.
